From 30th September to 30th October 2024, after returning from a week in Cornwall, we found ourselves red-boarded on the Thames at Sandford Lock and couldn’t proceed to on to the Kennet & Avon Canal. Greys Court (National Trust)
This picturesque 16th-century mansion and tranquil gardens were home to the Brunner family until recent years. The house exudes a welcoming atmosphere with a well-stocked kitchen and homely living rooms. The series of walled gardens is a colourful patchwork of interest set amid medieval ruins.
Nuffield Place (National Trust)
Lord Nuffield built the Morris Motor Company from the ground up. He became an incredibly successful and celebrated man, remaining humble and philanthropic throughout his life. Nuffield Place was his home for the last 30 years of his life.
